Announcing the 2020 Calgary Influential Women in Business Awards Recipients!

The inaugural Calgary Influential Women in Business Awards will recognize the 2020 recipients – seven outstanding female business leaders and one male champion – in Calgary on Thursday, March 5, 2020 to celebrate their accomplishments. The event’s dress code is Business Formal.

Honorees were chosen based on their professional accomplishments, influence, and business community involvement, according to the following categories:

  • Male Champion

The event includes a 3-course meal, wine, presenting speakers, and award ceremony.

2020 Calgary Influential Women in Business (CIWB) Award Recipients

Lifetime Achievement: 
Judy Fairburn, Co-Founder, The51, Serial Entrepreneur, and Board Director

This award honours a female senior executive who has achieved significant career success and inspired those behind her. The honouree has dedicated her life to the advancement of others and paved the way for the next generation of leaders.

Male Champion:
John Osler, Partner, McCarthy Tétrault LLP

This award honours a senior executive male who is an ally and supporter of corporate female executives. He advocates for men and women to work together towards gender parity and demonstrates a commitment to champion women in his workplace and in the community.

Large Enterprise:
Kerry O’Reilly Wilks, Chief Officer, Legal, Regulatory & External Affairs, TransAlta Corporation

This award honours a female senior executive who is integral to a large-sized enterprise with over a $1B in market capitalization. 

Small and Medium Enterprise:
Milena Radakovic, President & Owner, Nexus Exhibits Ltd., and Canada Ambassador – Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO)

This award honours a female senior executive who is integral to a small to medium sized enterprise with less than $1B in market capitalization. 

Entrepreneur (Founder or CEO):
Dr. Breanne Everett, Co-Founder, President and CEO, Orpyx® Medical Technologies

This award honours a female who has founded, established and ran a successful organization and/or demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit trailblazing new ideas, technologies and businesses in a commercial capacity.

Professional Services:
Jill Angevine, Managing Partner, Palisade Capital Management Ltd., and Board Director

This award honours a senior executive female in a professional services firm (law, accounting, financial services and/or consulting) who is a trusted advisor to her corporate clients.

Emerging Leader:
Amanda Hamilton, Founder and Creative Director, Amanda Hamilton Interior Design & Palette Archives

This award honours a female who has achieved early career success with a strong career trajectory. She has established herself as someone leading the “new” group of emerging corporate leaders in Calgary.

Social Enterprise:
Karen Young, President & CEO, United Way Calgary & Area

This award honours a female senior executive who is the driving force of a registered charity, not-for-profit, academic or industry association, or for-profit social enterprise, dedicated to social change and greater good. The honouree is a champion of philanthrophy, volunteerism and the non-profit community.
